We were delighted to provide the opportunity on Wednesday for a group of students to share their experiences of growing up in a different culture. As we learnt about the continent of Africa, its languages, music and rich cultural heritage, we took the opportunity to celebrate the diversity of our school population. The idea for Culture Day was provided by students themselves, and students enjoyed a day of lessons with an African focus, from African inspired art and technology, to baking African Lime cakes, studying African literature and significant historical events.
This was an important day for our school population, as we explored the British Values of tolerance, understanding and inclusivity. Students embraced traditional African dress and many brought in instruments and artefacts linked to this amazing continent.
